I am a physicist by training and have been working in the intersection of physics, materials science, and chemistry known as electronic structure where we try to understand how the interactions of electrons give rise to physical and chemical properties of materials. In the process, I’ve had the opportunity to work on some of the great supercomputers at Argonne National Laboratory and elsewhere. Modeling real things on computers gives me great pleasure as do growing and sharing my understanding of the world. I believe realistic, quantitative models and true understanding have great positive impact on our lives.
